In 4.1.2, there was an easy way to dismiss the keyboard when you didn't want it (downward pointing wedge on the left near the bottom of the screen, iirc), and also an easy way to select a new default keyboard; I can't find either of these functionalities in 4.2.2. Am I blind, or have they been mindlessly removed?

I can't speak for the 'dismiss' button, but to change the default keyboard there should be a keyboard icon in your notification bar (top left) every time you click on a text field. I WISH it was gone, but no, it's there... even if you don't have but one keyboard, it's there... all the time... staring at you... wasting space ¬¬

Pressing the back button does the same thing as the dismiss button.

Thanks; I see the icons, but they don't appear to do anything (that is, I have found no gesture that does anything other than make a bar with the data an a few other things appear). -- aah 'swipe down'. Not as convenient as the earlier method but better than nothing.
