All I want to do is to be able to move apps to the SD card. Before I go through the rooting process (with the brick potential) will the KitKat update give me that capbility without rooting?

    Thanks

My Tab just updated a couple days ago. I can confirm that the new update to KitKat does allow you to move your apps to your SD card. I recommend testing it first. I just moved a couple of my game apps to my SD card using the new function, however when I restarted the games wouldn't play anymore. But, I think that's because I exceeded the device capabilities when it comes to SD cards. I have a 64gb Sandisk card and I think it only reads and writes up to a 32gb card.
