Sound equaliser odd

Is it just me or has anyone else noticed that changing the equaliser settings on music player or play music does not have the effect it should have. For instance increasing the 60hz slider seems to drop everything above 60hz but does not increase the 60hz frequency. The sound is quite good set to normal or flat but seems to deteriorate if any equalisation is applied. p.s. I have a Tab 3.8.0
