Why won't my Samsung Tab3 charge?

Samsung tab3 wont charge

I put my samsung tab3 on charge last night and it got to 71% when ive got up this morning and turned it on it said it was 51% charged can anyone advise me why this is happening thanks

Perhaps the USB lead, or the USB port connection, is bad, among other possibilities.
