S Pen question for the Galaxy Tab A

Hi

I am torn between a Tab S and a Tab A. I want one with phone function, but also like the optional feature of the Tab A, the s pen. My question is, I can only find a TAB A with sim slot but no spen; but I have a note 3 phone. Now, has this TAB A version with just sim got the functions where i may be able to use the pen from the note 3? If it does, it would solve my problems.

Welcome to Android Central! According to this discussion, the Tab A versions that don't come with an S Pen can't use the S Pens that are designed for the Tab A (i.e., the Tab A that does come with an S Pen), nor the Note S Pens either. I have a note 4 and the tab a with s pen, both pens work with each device but it's own pen must be removed from the holders to activate them. There are coils around the inside of the screens that power the pens when they are close enough, you see the location cursor (Circle). The tab a tablets that do not have the s pen will not work with any s pen as they lack this power coil around the screen. The Note 10.5 did this too and came out long before apple decided to copy it.
