Samsung Galaxy Tab A stuck on boot screen

Bought a galaxy tab A recently, and performed software update because it kept flashing on the screen. The screen went green with the android logo on it for sometime and installed the update. Now it is stuck on the boot screen. It has been almost an hour now, it doesn't seem to proceed. Turned it off and on holding the start and volume buttons, but no luck. Please help.
