Recently my Tab has begun displaying the notice "Unfortunately, settings has stopped" as the tablet is starting up. I check "ok" and the notice goes away. Periodically, other apps will give me the same notification, but Settings is definitely the most frequent. Any ideas? Thanks....

The button combination presses can be tricky. You were pressing and holding Home, Vol Up, and Power all at the same time?

Yes, I tried it several times with the same result. I see from the link that it came from Verizon Support - my tab is wi-fi only. BUT, I now have a much bigger problem. After trying the link directions one last time, and deciding to cancel yet again, it went to a screen with the Android robot, saying "Downloading...do not turn off target"!!! Has additional info in the upper left corner. Left it for about an hour and came back to it...still showing downloading. Don't know what the heck is happening but I'm afraid it's bad. Can I stop it? How to turn the tab off? I'm going to try to include a picture...hope it's legible. HELP!!!

I think you may have pressed Home/Vol Down (instead of Up)/Power. That's the typical combination for Download Mode, while Home/Vol Up/Power is for Recovery Mode.

If you're not actually downloading anything, you should be able to force a power down safely by pressing and holding the Power button for about 15-20 seconds until the device shuts down. Then boot up normally again. (I got confirmation from two other Ambassadors that this is safe.)

The process of getting to the Recovery Menu should be the same for a particular device, regardless of the carrier. Let me see if I can find any YouTube videos that show how it's done.

Tried holding power for 30 seconds...nothing. I'm very nervous now. Appreciate your helping me.

Wow, finally got it turned off by holding the 3 button combo. At this point considering doing a factory reset. I'm figuring first step is unmount the sd card then access factory reset in Settings?

Yes, it's a good idea to unmount the SD and remove it before the reset. A reset isn't supposed to affect the SD, but I've seen posts where it did.
