    Hi,

    Recently I bought a 2 TB usb3 external hd.
I formatted it, just like my previous device which worked perfectly, in an Extended Fat format.
With my previous harddisk (also a seagate with 350 GB) I used the OTG usb hub to connect.
Now, this new device is recognised but 'unreadable'.

I was wondering. Is it because it is now 2 TB and this is too big for the tablet (or android device in general), and if so would it help if I partitionned the hd in different partitions? And if so how big should I make the partitions?

Or is it because it is a USB3 ? And if so is there a sollution ?

Btw, my tab is a samsung 10.5 and the operating system is android 4.4.

Not sure what content you have but I have 4T of content on my NAS drive. I set the NAS up for FTP, Webserver and DLNA server. I put movies, photos, music and books/ pdfs on it. I can access all the content from my tablet, PC, Smart TV and phone. I only access it from home currently but I could set it up as a cloud server. Samsung Myfiles app does great at accessing content. Just an idea.

I have recently bought an OTG Cable, actually it's more of a Hub made by AAMicroe, originally I thought I'd have to root my Tab S 10.5 to get this to work but have downloaded the "Total Commander - file manager" app from C. Ghisler and then the "USB Plugin for Total Commander" by Paragon Technologie GmbH and that combo has allowed me to use my USB 3.0 3tb powered HDD with it. At first when it said mounting it didn't work, but I found that when it said mounting if I just went straight to Total Commander without waiting for it to tell me it had mounted it was working!

Remember that the USB port on your Tab S won't be powerful enough to run an external HDD so you need to get an External HDD that has its own power source or buy an OTG Cable that allows you to plug in power for it to run. Hope this helps!
