Long story got given tablet sm-t805 Samsung as didn't work. Battery did not charge flashed saying 100% turns off turns on 65% charge and just goes in a loop did get into download mode and stayed on with charger in, after opening found the official samsung battery had leaked! Dried Lithium wasnt everywhere just few places so i cleaned it and removed all i can find bought new battery and trying to charge it now but even after 4 hours of charge got it to boot into download mode but as soon as i unplug it switches off, now i have had this before with the firmware on a s7 but when plugging into pc manage to odin the firmware and was good to go but this has no life when plugged in pc now it is a unofficial battery but this is my first test will replace with official if i can get firmware wiped but the fact it is so inconsistant and have to try getting into download mode 10 times before success. So anyone think its now definitely hardware (well yer defo could be battery did leak), samsung plug seems to be only one it dosent flash with just the battery logo but after a while the logo stops flashing stops giving percentage bar and goes black but then comes back. Very frustrating. When I have had similar problems the dodgy virus custom firmware was at fault where the s7 would lose charge soon as unplugged. And as this tab was owned by same person as the phone could well be. Any help would be greatly appreciated even if its to say throw in the towel.

The lithium could have corroded something right off the board. Or, as you said, it could be dodgy firmware. At least you'd need another motherboard (it doesn't have to be working) to examine every single land and blank space to make sure that no copper is missing, and there are no shorts. An on-head magnifier would probably help.

After that, about the only "out" would be a wired up plug and jacks, so you could power it from the charger (remember the resistor so it takes full charge) and feed data from the PC and reflash the stock ROM. Other than that, unless your time has negative value, I don't know it I''d bother with it. It's still usable, but 4-1/2 years old, running Marshmallow?

I moved this from the Galaxy S forum (for the ancient phone) to the Tab S 10.5 forum.
