I've seen a few threads and videos on rooting and expanding your RAM with a SD card for a Tab Pro but not the Tab S. I wondering if anyone knows if it'll work?

I downloaded the app "menoryinfo-swapcheck", when I open the app it says "no root access". I'm guessing this mean I cannot root but I'm not completely sure.

If it is possible for the tab s to be rooted and have it's ram expanded, how big should my SD card be ? will 1 GB of ram take up 1GB of space on the USB?

    Welcome to Android Central!

The Tab S 8.4 already has 3GB of RAM. Are you talking about expanding the storage?

Welcome to Android Central! RAM is where active apps reside while they're open or cached--it's dynamic, and the system will decide when apps should be closed out of RAM, to be replaced by some other app that you open or that the system thinks you will need soon. You can't expand RAM.

Internal Storage (sometimes referred to as ROM in specs) is like the device's internal drive, and where system files, app files, and data are stored. You can expand storage using a microSD card, but this will be primarily useful for storing media (like photos, music, and videos). Some devices allow you to move a portion of an app to the SD card, but this portion is typically pretty small, and can potentially slow down the app's performance. Apps can often save user data to the SD card as well.

I have a 16G version. Kind of small now a day and program is using more space after update. Any chance of replacing chip so that it can be upgrade to 32G?
I have necessary tools to remove old chip and replace with new.
