Notification Sounds on Tab S4

I just bought a Tab S4, upgrading from the S3. The Samsung notification sounds override all my app sounds. Is anyone else experiencing that? Is that normal? I don't like it and want to find a way to stop that. I do not like the notification sounds that are preinstalled with the Note S4 and don't want to have to get used to a entirely new set of sounds. Thinking that I should do a factory reset as this doesn't seem right.

Press the voulme down button and a dialog box will appear with a slider and a little down arrow in the upper right. Tap the down arrow and the box will expand to three volume sliders including the notification sounds....adjust to you liking.

As for the sounds you hear, Settings->Sounds will allow you to pick and choose sounds or add new ones.
