I purchased a Bluetooth version of the Samsung Galaxy Watch at the beginning of December 2018, for the first few weeks the watch ran near perfect apart from the step counter which seems very inaccurate, I used to walk 5.0 miles which gave me my 10,000 steps on my old Fitbit and Samsung Gear S2, the new Samsung Galaxy Watch only records 8000 steps.
Since beginning of this year, the Samsung Galaxy Watch is still very inaccurate and the heart rate sensor will stop half way around my walk, The GPS sometimes stops working mid walk and takes a long time to get a lock, some days I get 25 or more floors when walking a dead flat walk along the sea front.
This problem really needs sorting out, I have tried many Factory Resets, Powering Off and back on etc
I have owned a Samsung Gear S2, Gear S3 Frontier and now this piece of rubbish, the Samsung Galaxy Watch which I don’t think if fit for its purpose.

There is new firmware rolling out that has fixed heart rate issues for most people. Unfortunately the roll out has been slow with Bluetooth users getting first. It seemed to hit the US first. I am not sure how far it has gotten now.

@Sybexx, you are right - it isn't fit for purpose with the current software. However, many users have reported the sensor problems are 'fixed' or 'drastically improved' with the latest update.
Unfortunately, though, only users in the USA and Canada have the update. The rest of the world is still waiting...

No worries. The whole thing is a shambles, but I'll probably forgive all if the update comes quickly and does what it promises.

I too owned the Gear S1 and 2. Also the gear fit. This watch is extremely annoying and so far Samsung does not care.

My GW (42mm) worked nicely for the first 5 or 6 weeks and suddenly all the sensors just stopped working. I get them to work again eventually by factory resetting the watch, sometimes more than once, but they stop working after a couple of hours.



I thought the new firmware version (R810XXU1BSA4) would solve the problem, but it didn't happen. I thought it did when I updated, got all things working as expected. But in the next day the sensor nightmare stroke again.

I have the LTE version and I have the same problems. Sometimes the step tracker works, sometimes it does not.

The only thing that is consistent is that Samsung does not care.

Oddly enough, the Bluetooth update was listed as being larger than the LTE yet Bluetooth users seem to have less issues as a whole. Maybe the pulled LTE for more fixes but it would be nice if they communicate. The reason they don't is the legal department. I found this out in another business. I only want to add this. As stated prior I had the fitbit ionic.. It was the exact same thing.. Many issues and nothing being quickly addressed. And they used the same logic that there were many sold and only a small amount (people on message boards) had issues.. I think we are in a technology that is progressing too fast. Features being releases that are not perfected.. My Doctor saw my watch yesterday and smiled and held his watch up to mine. Identical watch.. He said he has had zero issues with his and he uses it 24/7 for messages/mail/ steps and heart rate. While I found it hard to believe I guess it could be very poor quality control as the Ionic was the same. Some said it worked perfect.. Others had issues. Right now mine seems fine other than an improved but still weak sleep tracking component which is obviously software related as Sleep as Android is perfect(other than battery drain). Steps seem accurate but I have not begun my warm weather walking.. I always use the excercise app.

I am on my second watch as well but my first was for very poor battery life.

The battery is one issue I have not had.
