I've been monitoring the secondary Market like eBay, swappa and Facebook Marketplace for this device including my own experience trying to sell my device. I came to the conclusion that there just isn't much demand for this device. I had mine listed on swappa the first week of its release date and I struggle to get $700. I also had it on Facebook Marketplace and just got a bunch of low ballers and no serious interest. I've never really struggled too much to sell a phone as I did with the flip 3.

Even carriers like T-Mobile are now offering 699 price with activation. Give it a month or so, I'll be expecting to see buy one get one by free by the carriers really soon.

If those are in the market for the flip 3, I suggest you wait a little bit. It won't be long before these phones will be listed in the sub 600 price range. If you're waiting for the custom colors and you can cancel your order I suggest you do so. By the time your custom color devices gets shipped you can probably get one of the common colors close to half the price of the custom colors.

Apparently you're not paying attention to how cheap people are able to get them with multiple trade in's. I traded in 2 phones for the fold 3 and paid $180 and received $200 promo and free year insurance. You're competing with to good of promotions

I'm absolutely paying attention on how cheap people are getting these phones but Samsung better not base their sales goals on pre-orders. Pre-orders have came and went and based on what I see there just isn't any demand aside from the pre-orders.

Well the flip is certainly a "niche" device. I'm sure most are perfectly content with a more traditional style of phone. But calling it a sales flop based on your experiences with swappa or going by deals offered by carriers to lure in customers. Isn't indicative of anything IMO. Also every carrier offers deals on phones.

Or they are making them cheap enough to obtain directly thru them. I try to avoid buying phones thru third party avenues. Samsung will base their sales of the folds like they do any other phone. Samsung came up with the multiple trades and they hit a home run. It's going to hurt third party resellers IMO.

Exactly. I think the multiple trade in's is going to hurt the ones tryimg to make a buck or two selling them third party.

Also people selling the flip on swappa are just trying to make a quick buck. Likely got the phone for say $400 via a trade in, then sell it for $800 for a nice $400 profit.

I don't blame them for trying, but when people can trade in a couple phones or more and get a $1800 phone for $180 and get all the promos, it's going to be harder to sell them right now. That doesn't mean the sales are bad. The sales are going to be lower then the S Series, they are still relatively new tech. The folding phones are gaining sales pretty good this time around.

I don't blame them either. But a lot of the flip 3's on swappa are listed as new. So the sellers never even opened the box.

I have never bought a phone with its trade in value in mind.
Its not a car or house.
I don't buy phones unless I plan to keep them awhile.
    I love this Flip 3.

I have 2 trade In my iphone 11 pro ,pixel 4xl the pixel 4xl they only give me 200 so I'm going keep it for my son the iphone they giving me 600 but I'm going keep it also and pay the 800 and be done .

Haha you guys focused on trade-ins and resell of the post and are failing to answer the question of the post...is it a sales flop?

I also gave an advice if you're in the market for this phone to just hold up on buying it as it looks like prices are tanking. You can get a much better deal then those who pre-ordered it.

A sales flop in 2 weeks? What is this, the movie box office?

We haven't even hit holiday sales yet lol.

Since you mentioned the movies let's go with that analogy. Do you know if a movie is a flop during the first two weeks of its release it's pretty much a failure. You have little to no chance to make up the difference. A movie pretty much makes at least 60% of its sales in its opening 2 weeks.

The signs are already there that this flip is a flop. It's a ganttic failure considering Samsung thought it can sale 6 million foldable phones

People don't buy phones like movies though. Not everyone has $900 (or even $200 for a down payment) laying around to buy a phone in it's first week of release. Most phones don't hit their stride until 3-6 months after release. Even this year's iPhone won't make a dent until February or March 2022.

I do think Samsung has an uphill battle against Apple and Google this year, even though there is alot of interest in the Flip 3 (at least on line).

But yeah, 2 weeks just isn't enough time to write off sales of a brand new device. And actually if you went by early pre orders, both foldables are strong sales hits. Right now pre orders, sales estimates and reviews are all we have to go on.

I'll answer the question. I see no indication that's it's a flop and your speculation based on the resale market doesn't convince me.

So lack of demand and carrier price drops is no indication of a device struggling to sell? Okay gotcha

Your lack of demand is pure speculation. Carriers generally drop price shortly after pre-sale.

When I was working on buying mine (due to be delivered by Monday) all the extra colors were sold out already. I settled for old boring black cuz I didn't want to wait. I personally think it's too soon to make this judgement when you look at the other things people are saying on this thread. Due to the economy and covid maybe more than this phone appear to be lacking in sales as well. I don't know but it's a thought those that watch these things might want to delve into.

On a side note, VZW should really open up their minds and offer different colors in my opinion.
