Phone battery life

Hi all, sorry if this is posted somewhere else. I have 2 questions.
First question is "how is the battery life of the phone when paired with a smart watch? I'm not sure if different brands of watches matter." I have a note3 running kit kat
Second question "what is the range of the blue tooth, that is, can you have the phone downstairs and be upstairs and will the watches functions still work?"

The range of the gear 2 is pretty far from what I've noticed. Battery life doesn't seem horrible with it connected all the time. I don't use the stock battery but it doesn't seem to be draining dramatically more battery.

I noticed a small increase on my phones battery usage. The watch can go a decent distance depending on whats in the way. I've lost connection with the watch while the phone was in my pocket.
