Android Wear is Google?s new platform for wearable devices like the upcoming LG G Watch and Motorola Moto G smartwatch. Pair your watch or other wearable device with your phone, and you?ll be able to receive notifications on your wrist, search the web by talking to your watch, control music playback while your phone stays in your pocket, or perform other tasks.

Google?s already provided developers with tools to get started working with the platform ? but one of the coolest things about Android Wear is that developers don?t need to do anything special to use the platform. If apps are already designed to show notifications on a smartphone, those notifications will also show up on your Android Wear smartwatch automatically.
Google developer Timothy Jordan has posted some examples of apps that already work out of the box, including Nest, Clash of Clans, Pocket Casts, and Google Calendar.

When a notification shows up on your watch you?ll see the notification on the bottom half of the screen as well as a small app icon letting you know which app the notice is coming from.

Developers who do want to add more details to their notifications can enable additional pages of notifications with a ?few lines of code.? This lets users swipe across a notification on their watch to view additional details.

Still can't see the advantage of a round screen for displaying text. I doubt I would ever warm up to that.

Hope Sammy doesn't leave us Tizen users in the dust as Wear catches on.

Would love to see the implementation of the app that presents text as a "flash card". It's pretty cool to read text as a series of very quickly flashing sequence of words or groups of words. It's called "Spreeder".
