The part where I "carefully remove the battery connection wire with the tip of the spudger tool". If you've done that 10 times it is easy. For me the first time will result in a broken contact with wire stuck in it.
Just as well because the nearest replacements I found in ebay are in China and won't get here before October. No replacements in Amazon. I bet the replacement batteries have been left discharged for 5 years minimum.
Throw away culture.
