Verizon Gear S2...using as Bluetooth Only

I received my Verizon gear S2 sport as a promotional gift from Verizon for buying S7 edge, but did not want to add a line for $5 bucks a month. So currently using as bluetooth device only. I am trying to update the gear, but there isn't an option to update software or other options I see other users have. For instance, unread notification, extra watch faces, espn, etc. $5 a month isn't a problem and I have no use for leaving my phone at home. My current software version is R730VVRU1AOL3. Will I receive updates if I sign on for the connected 3g data? Thanks for any help provided.

Look for the "check for updates " on your phone.. under the Samsung Gear app.

Thank you that worked. I'm coming from an iphone haven't used android in a long while.

Settings > System > About Gear > Update Gear Software

For users like me who and no idea how to update there watch ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

You can also go to the Gear app on your phone to check and initiate updates and change your watch faces.
