Samsung Pay not Working on S2 w/ Note 7

Very frustrating (and if I can just vent--Samsung just can't seem to get its software act together). Setting up Note 7 and Gear S2 and it says it needs an update to allow Samsung Pay to work, which of course then leads to an error message (update not available).
Anyone find a work around?

Do you have a 3G watch? Have you read the existing thread about Pay?

I have a bluetooth S2 and this issue is particular to the Note 7
(other thread appears to be specific to 3g watches.)

What you noted in your OP is not related to the Note. And, you missed the point of the 3G question. And Pay for the Gear is BETA, that means it might not work!
