why is my gear s2 schedule app no longer displaying google calendar?

when I click on the schedule app, it opens with the current month and year at the top in green, the days in white and todays date circled in green. however when I tap onit it goes back a level and does not display the calendar. I am running Android 7.0. not sure if it is connected or some other change for Gear s3 has affected it.
