I find this strange but I get decent battery life when I wear my gear s2 all day long but sometimes it bothers my wrist so I will take it off and lay it on my desk. At those times it seems the battery drains quite fast.

As an example I had it on all day yesterday and when I went to bed around 11:30 I was at 64%. Today I had it on my desk most of the day without using it and I'm now at 24% and it's only 7:23.

I charge it every night for the same amount of time.

Anyone else see this or has any insight as to why this is happening?

Maybe it's looking for a pulse of some such sign of life?

If it is 3g model maybe the search for cell network is draining battery.

    Thanks for the replies.

It is a 3g model but my phone is sitting right next to it on my desk and it's at the same place I sit while wearing it so I can't imagine it would be searching more just because I'm not wearing it.

I don't have it set to automatically take my heart rate so I don't think it's look for signs of life.

Only think I can think of is that you are being punished for not wearing it.

After reading this post, I tried it myself and am seeing similar behavior. Hmmm...

Yes. I've seen the same behaviour by my S3. One morning I decided to wear a different watch and the battery got to 0% from 65% by lunch.

When not at home it wasn't connected to my phone but it was connected to my home WiFi. Since it doesn't have a sim it won't be looking out for network reception.
May be it'll settle only when it finds a human pulse.

The temporary solution would be to switch off when not wearing I suppose.
