Does the carrier matter?

I'm thinking of picking up a Gear S2 Classic. If I have no intention of ever getting a cellular plan for it, does it matter if it is carrier branded, unlocked, etc? I just want it to connect to my phone and to my wifi.

Nope if you're not using cellular features then shouldn't matter.

If you get a cellular model, you can use the watch as a speaker phone. If you get the model without cellular you cannot as it does not have a speaker on it. If you never want to activate the cellular abilities of the watch then it doesn't matter which one (AT, Verizon, Etc.) that you buy. I have Verizon service but bought a AT watch simply to have the ability to answer phone calls on my watch.
