Procedure for resetting phone

I want to do a factory reset on my S7 Edge, is there a procedure for the watch connection I need to follow (Gear S3)? Am I better disconnecting the watch first or do I need to reset the watch too so I can reconnect to what it will see as a 'new' phone?

Once you reset the phone, they will not recognise each other. I would disconnect, take out sim and sd card. Back up your data first...

The Frontier we get over here is WiFi only so no SIM. I had to indeed factory reset the watch after I reset the phone. Reinstalling everything was easy as it was on my Samsung apps account.
