Samsung s3 watch / compatatable with samsung Galaxy S 5 phone

[AC Question]

Hi I have a Samsung A3 dual sim mobile bought from Hong Kong 3 + years ago.

My partner has bought me the Samsung S 3 watch from Sydney but the phone and watch through the GEAR app don't work together.

I now need to buy a new phone so I am looking at the Samsung S 5

The problem is that the S 5 phones I am looking at are from outside Australia.

Will a phone I buy from outside Australia work with Samsung s3 watch ?

I'd try asking Samsung. If you give them the serial numbers of the watch and the phone, they should be able to tell you.

I use my S3 Frontier with an AT&T S5 and it works great.

I bought an S5 in the States. It works great with the Gear S3 I also bought there.
