My gear S3 is not consistent in the distance measurements. For the same 2 points it is giving different results on different days. The deviation is as much as 800 meters for a 5 km run. And deviation is more than a kilometer when compared to the map reading in a gpx viewer.
Samsung is saying that that’s how all there watches work and it will never be the same and accordingly no fault in the watch.
It’s a brand new watch bought in December 2017.
Bought and being used in Dubai.
Please help me to understand if the claim by Samsung can be true.

Have you checked your location configuration setting? I would suspect that yours is set to "Wireless network" which relies on Wifi and mobile networks. I have mine set to "GPS & Wireless" and the accuracy is very good.
