help with e mail/contacts

I just bought the intercept (VM) this is my first android and I have some questions. How do I get my contacts from my old cell phone into the intercept since there is no sim , and how do I get the intercept to recognize my e mail account , I go through the steps in the manual , but no luck. Thanks

Can you take a VM phone to a sprint store? If so, they should be able to do the transfer.
What kind of email? (gmail, yahoo, aol, hotmail) IMAP or POP3 are handled differently.
Check sprint.com for a Ready Now store near you. They should have people that can do a complete phone set up for you. They should also walk you through some basic functions.
