Application Switcher

I am coming from a BB Curve and before that a Palm Centro. On both devices there was an application switcher of some kind. Every once in a while I see something that looks like that on my screen. A box with 6 apps and the rest of the screen dark. Is this the switcher? If it is how do I get to it? Is there an app that does this?

There should be one built into the phone, yes. I don't own a Moment so I'm not sure how to do bring it up but it is indeed there. Or should be...

The box with the 6 apps is an application switcher, of sorts. It's the last 6 apps that were open on the phone (whether currently running or not). You get to it by long-pressing the Home softkey.
