I went to show my friend the video for Sink or Swim from Onward to Olympas on Youtube today and it was nowhere to be found. I got home and emailed the link to the video to myself from my PC and when I went to play it, it said "Sorry, this video is not available". So I started looking around found several "official" music vids that will not play.
Anyone know why this is ?

Were you able to play them on your pc? did the URL get mangled when the phone tried to go to it?

Yeah. They play just fine on my PC. That's why I emailed myself the URL.

It's a mobile YouTube thing. I've noticed it with music videos most often. Nothing you can really do about it.

I searched for that particular video (noise... ) and noticed that it was marked "HD". I'm guessing that may have something to do with it.

I understand the reason for getting upset (not being able to watch all Youtube's videos), but hey, I'd be happy with a Youtube app at all! My BB has a downloadable one (that totally sucks lol). I can't wait to go with Android!

Well I got on the record company's Youtube channel and not one of their 50 + videos will play. They all say "not available on mobile". It just makes no sense !!

Wow, that really doesn't make sense. Or maybe it has something to do with mobiles being easier to share on? I really don't know lol.

Maybe they're running at a resolution higher than mobiles support? Maybe they just don't like mobiles?

No No No, the reason for this is certain content providers restrict how their videos can be played. I don't know this for a fact but I'd bet money on it. I follow HD and content stuff pretty regularly and there's all sorts of crappy agreements out there that restrict how content can be played. You have Netflix and Redbox restricted to releasing some dvd's 1 month after the normal release, and streaming content might only be available for a month or so. I'll guarantee you some of these studios and music labels aren't allowing youtube from streaming some videos to a mobile device so that they can charge for it some other way. Pure crap.
