Missing RAM?

I just got the Samsung Transform Ultra a week ago. It's my first ever smartphone and I love it to death, but I think something is off when it comes to my available RAM. All documentation I find on the internet says it has 512 mb, but when I run any system information apps I have on the phone, they all report 370 mb. Google hasn't been any help, but then again I might be asking the wrong questions. Is there a reason for the discrepancy or is the manufacturer reporting false information?

a little of both. It has 512 MB of memory in the phone, but only 370 is available for outside apps to use.

The rest is reserved right off the top for system apps to use at will, including touchwiz I believe.

Somewhere you should see physical memory and also available memory in the reporting apps....
