Couple words of advice. Don't let the sprint worker activate it for you. If you choose a Sprint iD pack and as soon as the main Android menu shows up, you can swipe down and cancel the download. No iD pack installed. Will save you the trouble of having to remove the apps. Seems relatively fast without that bloatware running.

One question, does anyone know a good notification app to blink the backlight on the menu buttons when a message comes through? That would cure the need for an LED. (Why on earth anyone would leave something as simple as a notification LED off a phone these days is beyond me...)

I just came over from a dev forum, but if you're even questioning between a Hero and this, the obvious answer is the Transform. It's rooted, roam only works, and it's beautiful and fast...as long as it's not stock rom.
I got this phone the 12th and it's great, beats my buddies Hero to hell.

The savings per day is under 50 cents and is is about 2% smaller than an Epic.

See: Why would you buy a Samsung Transform instead of an Epic?

The 16 GB micoSD Card is included with the Epic but will cost you $100 for the Transform at the Sprint store.
