I'm on Da_G's kernel now the 1.782 one, I have it flashed over a custom rom, but I'm seeing some issues, I'm thinking of flashing back to stock and just using that kernal, like I was before, I did see very noticeable battery improvement with this kernel.

So you had a stock rom with Da_G's kernel before? Did you have any issues? I'm thinking of doing the exact same thing.

Yes, i had it like that before. Da_G has like four or five different kernels for the skyrocket, the first time I flashed the 1.728ghz kernel and it work perfectly with stock rom I also tried the 1.8ghz kernel but it bricked my phone, now I'm back to stock rom and Da_Gs kernel the 1.782ghz, so far it running smooth, only thing I have noticed is screen transitions are kind lagging but it could my my adw launcher causing the lags. Here is the link to these kernel if anyone else wants to give them a flash Overclock AT&T Galaxy S II Skyrocket To 1.83Ghz With Custom Kernel

Just to update, the Da_G 1.782 kernel I flashed is a no go, it has been really unstable the past hour, and battery usage is way up. Im fixing to flash seanzscreams new rc6.5z rom for my daily driver, I have had the best battery results from his previous version's rc6-rc6.3 here is a link to the rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1377087

I was reading that the recent version of Da_G's kernel wasn't stable. So, I've held off thus far until he worked out the kinks. Would love to hear your thoughts on the Sky Ice Scream when you've messed w/ it more.

Yeah I have flashed every version of da_G's kernel and the are all unstable, the kernel I'm about to flash is the sky-kernel008b4, it just hit last night about 10pm and looks to be what we have been waiting on, they claim it can be flashed over stock or any custom rom safely, but I will have to test it to believe it. Now about the skyrocket ics rom, I flashed the the new updated version, rc6.5z last night, developer claims this version has all the bug worked out, and I believe him, so far this rom has blow me away, I'm still doing some hardcore testing on it, but at this point I would recommend this rom over any other out there! I have posted this link before but here is sky ics 6.5z http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1377087 also here is the sky-kernel008b4 link y'all go check it out http://rootzwiki.com/topic/14570-ker...-savingjan-08/

Is there any reason you would not recommend using this ROM for daily full-time use?

Also, how well does the ROM handle the physical buttons vs. the virtual?

I would recommend this rom over any other, and I have flashed them all, the newest version of this rom, 6.8z, is running faux123's kernel and is amazingly stable for every day use. Now what do you mean by, "how does this rom handle the physical buttons vs virtual"?

Thanks for the reply. To answer your question I was under the impression ICS used virtual buttons since the galaxy nexus has no physical buttons on the hardware. Since the skyrocket does have the buttons (home key, search, etc) I was curious if these were duplicated or managed differently.

No, the skyrocket ics rom uses just the physical buttons.no duplication.

It runs a 2.3.5/2.3.6 hybrid, and has 3 kernel versions to choose from, stock, stockish, and overclocked.

Hi folks, first time post. I'm a techy guy and am pretty adept at figuring things out, but I'm a bit stumped as I'm new to Android.

I have a bit of a different question. I'm following the links at the beginning of this thread for the "how-to" on rooting my new SR, and the subsequent link to get ADB running...

What Is ADB And How To Install It With Android SDK

I've got the android sdk installed on my laptop running Win7 64bit. I have the usb tools installed and have connected the phone as instructed but the command "adb devices" at the DOS prompt doesn't show my phone as connected/listed.

    Anybody got any hints?

This was the missing piece for me. I thought it was actually a 2.4 ROM on true ICS, not a Gingerbread ROM with ICS simulated through a specific launcher.

I'm running it now and it works great for a custom ROM (or any ROM for that matter). Plus I love the Back Light notification and the fact that CIQ is gone but it is not ICS. I guess its just not possible to take the stock code from Google ICS and "port" it over to something the SkyRocket can use? Obviously I'm still learning here but are we stuck on options for 2.4 until Samsung releases their ICS version later this quarter for true ICS Roms?
