My touch screen just stopped working, how can I fix it?

my touch screen just stopped working

i was just on my phone sony xperia m2, when i finished locked my screen like normal. then i received a text and i cant access it as the touch screen is not allowung to do anything as it seems its not reckonised my touches

please help

Welcome to Android Central! Have you already tried rebooting? Press and hold Power for about 15-20 seconds until it forces a shutdown, wait a few seconds, then power back on. If the touchscreen remains unresponsive, then the digitizer may have failed, which would require a technician to replace.
