Kit kat lock screen app safety

Hi, I have a small window in my case which, with kit kat I could view the clock AND who was calling. With lollipop now I can only see half the clock and not who is calling. My kit kat setup was perfect. I have tried installing apps that bring back the kit kat lock screen but they require so many permissions that makes me unsure of how safe they are. Any ideas?
