Camera problem.

My brother has the Sony Xperia Z3 plus & he can't launch the camera. When he presses the camera it goes to launch but it just returns to the home screen every time. He's tried turning the phone off & on again & it hasn't worked. Any idea how to get the camera working again?

Has he already tried clearing the app cache/data for the Camera app in Settings>Apps? Does this also happen in Safe Mode? https://support.t-mobile.com/docs/DOC-28384

He's tried all that & it still doesn't work. He's also tried force stopping the app & it still doesn't work. In safe mode a message pops up saying the camera keeps stopping when he tries to launch the app. Never get that message when the phone isn't in safe mode also his phone seems to run hot more than it should. Any other things to try to fix the camera & maybe the heat issue?

It could be a firmware or hardware issue. Try using Xperia Companion to repair the firmware: https://support.sonymobile.com/us/xperia-companion/

On my brothers phone he can test bits of hardware/software & when he went to test the camera it said camera not available. Also he can't remember the info he used to sign in to the Xperia companion do that doesn't help. He's now just looking at getting a new phone as his battery doesn't last long like mine.
