What's the exact model number for the international Z5 Premium? Look up its LTE band compatibility on the web, and compare them to the ones that AT&T uses (2, 4, 12, 17).

Using mine on AT&T in the states, and I'm on Band 17 mostly. It never shows LTE, but 4G all the time. Never dropped a call, missed a text or have issues with data.
Try LTE discovery app.

If I remember correctly, international models of gsm phones show 4G for LTE and HSPA+ for 4G

Same with signal strength. Sometimes on Band 2, I will get 3 bars. Usually just one or 2 bars on Band 17, but never a performance issue.

I use E6853 on T-Mobile. I run into the same thing the other user stated. Might show 2 bars, but performance doesn't seem to be affected. I also work on the border so I constantly switch back and forth between T-Mobile and Telcel. If you're in a bigger city then you will have no problems with this phone. In all honesty, I would probably go with Z5 and not the premium. I got it for the 4K, but it's a feature I never use. It's like going back to 2007 when I was loading movies onto my BB. That's what I hear you have to to do watch 4K movies. I used to be a power user, but now I'm more into it just being a communication device and a cast device at home.
