It seems that this update is going out via the PC Companion software right now and not OTA, but it's there nonetheless -- just plug into your PC and load up the software. Update process was pretty quick and painless. No data loss here.

    Noticeable changes:
    1. The status and nav bars are now black (instead of grey),
    2. There's some supposed camera improvements (I haven't tested)
    3. It definitely seems like they've done something to smooth out the home screen transitions in the launcher.

What else have you all noticed, if you've gotten the update (which, coincidentally is also out for the Z as well as the ZL)?

So far the update has been awesome! It does fix a few bugs here and there and having the buttons black is much more appreciated. It's amazing that the Z and ZL are getting it at the same time we might see this for future updates as well.

So is 10.1.1.A.1.253 newer then 10.1.A.1.434? My ZL will be here Tuesday. Thanks! New firmware (10.1.A.1.434) rolling out on the Xperia ZL | Xperia Blog

Yes. The .253 update is newer than the .434 firmware. So far, things are smooth for me with the new update on my ZL.

I recently downloaded this update, and when I turned the phone on, all the apps including messaging, phone, settings and contacts were gone! How do I get them back?
