So call me crazy, but I still prefer traditional texting on virtual keyboards as opposed to "swyping". Now the Swype keyboard on the Epic is indeed a good keyboard. I really like how they implemented the ability to hold down a key to get alternate letters/symbols. However, when playing with the Epic at a Sprint store, it seemed that auto-correct did not work when entering text traditionally on the Swype keyboard? In other words, it did not auto-correct my spelling as I typed. Is there an option in settings to enable this?

No, but you can set the original android keyboard as default. It also comes on the phone.
