You can always threaten to leave without the early upgrade.
Yeah, problem is that the threat is 5 months away unless we pay a bunch of ETF's, and even with that, there's one line that's on contract through 2014! I just wonder how much Sprint cares right now given that they are about to be purchased, theoretically? Seems like this would make them less willing to bend over backwards, but we'll see...

Just have them send you to customer retention, tell them you're having issues with your phone but you aren't upgrade eligible for another 5 months. Maybe they'll give you a free upgrade.

Hmmm, why wouldn't they just tell me to bring the phone into my local Sprint repair center since I have a full protection plan?

I got the following phones at launch...

    Palm Centro
    Palm Pre
    HTC EVO 4G
    HTC EVO 3D
    Samsung Galaxy S3

With that said, I will wait on the GNote2. I am taking the wife's upgrade which falls on 12/1 since I gave her my SGS3. I could get it on launch, but this time around, I will wait to see if any bugs will come with it.

I read that Sprint will not be selling the note on the 25th, they said that is the date for them taking orders. Which its being done through phone or online only.

I was on the Sprint forum site and some people stated that was told to them by Sprint customer service.

Here's a thread on the EVO forum saying how you can upgrade before contract expires.

I was not eligible for an upgrade from my Evo 3D until June of 2013. At first I thought my only option to get the Evo 4G LTE was to purchase it at full retail price(which has been announced on Sprint at $549) Then I noticed while browsing through the Evo 4G LTE forums that some people called Sprint and requested to "Buy-Up" to the Evo 4G LTE so I called to inquire. Here is how it works. You have to call 888-273-9460 and inquire how much it would cost to buy up from your current contract. There is a certain amount you can choose to pay to be eligible to upgrade to a new phone. Since I still had a year, I had to pay $165 to be eligible to upgrade to the Evo 4G LTE on release date. Now instead of having to pay $549 I will be paying $199 + $165 = $364. I now have the choice to trade in my Evo 3D for $90 and pay even less or even sell it for more. Even without doing that I am saving $185 by "Buying Up" with Sprint. I don't know the qualifications but it doesn't hurt to try if you are interested in upgrading before your eligible date.

First off Im eligible for new customer price July 2013
Ive been checking into buy-up for a few days working the heck out of Sprint retentions having not so good results.
It will cost me 225.00 buy-up in order to get GN2 at new customer price which is pushing me to ATT = pretty scarey due to 3GB data cap.
Heck I'm at a cross roads not sure what I'm going to do

I likely won't get it the first day. I need to wait until the 1st for my upgrade anyways. But I wouldn't mind waiting a week to see if any kinks need to get worked out!

Well, I just called the number above and talked to someone. They offered me to upgrade for an additional $100. That seems a little higher given that I only have a little over 5 months to go. I also asked if I upgraded in November whether that would lower it and he said no, but he also said that I had 7 days to take the offer, which I don't quite understand. Why would it "expire" as he said? I wonder if I did go ahead and let it expire then called them back in November (when my upgrade was technically LESS than 5 months), would it indeed just be offered again, but for $80 or something? I know, probably not worth $20 or $25 in savings.

The main issue with this is that if I did go ahead and buy through my Best Buy credit card, I wouldn't be able to charge that $100, only the $300 for the phone. I guess it's better than nothing, but a bummer that I'll have to shell out another $100 in cash I was not expecting to. Oh well! I guess I have 7 days to take advantage and if Best Buy doesn't have it for sale by October 26th I can't do it anyway, lol!
