I wanted this phone sooooo bad a few months ago. I still like it, and I did prefer the overseas design better, but, the Sprint version is better than the other US versions. I'm just scared to buy this and then in October or Dec the Nexus prime comes out and I get mad, even though I have 3 lines with upgrades over the next 3 months. Samsung's lack of updates scare me also, I've only owned HTC phones, but, I know the dev support for Nexus will more then make up for that. I'm still rocking my OG Evo and it's rooted, so, I have not been in a rush to get rid of it, and the Evo 3D didn't really interest me.

As others have said, the NP most likely is not going to hit sprint for a while. Look at the S and see how long that took and most rumors have the NP going to Verizon first and possibly one of the reasons they are not getting the S2.

Updates are slow with Samsung, but you mention you have a rooted Evo and updates wont be a problem with Samsung if you root it, right?

The bigger question for me is if the Sammy has NFC, newer 1.5ghz exynos and the 1280x800 screen. I'll get over the bigger screen which I didnt want, but now getting the "old" No NFC, 1.2 qualcoms and lower resolution would just be a disappointment.

There is no way this won't be the same processor as the original version based on the test results shown previously. NFC I wouldn't count on. I'd love the bigger screen but who knows?

Is that a LED notification light or two between the speaker and camera? I would assume its that and/or front LED flash?

Looks great. I also like the branding label choices, with only Samsung on the front, and Sprint on the back along with the Galaxy SII branding. It makes both sides look rather clean and not obnoxious like some phones.

After all this waiting it almost seems surreal that its release is right around the corner.

It's very doubtful I admit. But if Samsung has their Super AMOLED HD screens ready, the higher resolution coupled with the higher clock speed might be why the two phones score similar on benchmarks.

But I admit it's very unlikely that our SGS2 variants will sport the HD screen.

Hopefully they have a premier launch a couple of days early like they did for the Evo3D and Photon 4G.

So your decision on a phone all depends whether or not a phone has a camera button or not?

^^^ What's the big deal about a dedicated camera button? With a front-facing camera, I don't understand the big need. With no front cam, it's a pain taking self-photos w/o a button on the side, but with the front camera is just as simple as taking any other picture. I don't think you'll see too many touchscreen phones w/ a camera button anymore due to that fact...

I've seen several people make a big deal out of the dedicated camera button. I don't understand it either. I have one and I never use it.

LOL I love the camera button on my Epic but not for self portraits lol I will miss it but I wish it did have one.
But in no way is it a deal breaker for me... I think i would seriously have to think about this phone if it didn't pack the Exynos chips in it though... That to mewould be more of a deal breaker then a camera button.

i think you can hold the camera more steady if you are pushing an actual button on the top rather than tapping the screen. My dream android phone would have one, but it is not a dealbreaker for me.

This is totally opposite for me. Pushing the physical button induces movement every time and gives me a blurry picture no matter how hard I try. When I use the on screen I only have to barely touch the screen to capture a blur free photo. I am one that wants no physical buttons whatsoever on a phone. Buttons are so 3 years ago. I would like to have a phone with no buttons at all and no headphone jack or charging port. Totally sealed. The headphone jack and charging port could be accomplished with metal contacts and magnets underneath to hold cord or just do straight Bluetooth. Volume controls could be something akin to the piezeo screen on the bb storm 2. I wouldn't be surprised to see apple start going to a 100% buttonless and headphone jackless device in the future causing everyone else to follow.

IF it is actually available mid Sept., it will be a just a few weeks ahead of the iPhone 5 on Sprint. Had this phone been released earlier I'd be owning it. Major Samsung FU-"too big to fail" syndrome IMHO by going head to head with Apple.

Now I'll wait a couple weeks to see what the the iPhone has to offer.

My daughter has an iphone...I've used it a fair bit and spent some time basically playing with it.

If you want something that just works, is kinda mundane / boring, something you can download lots of apps for but can't customize, something you can't pull the battery on or have a spare battery for...it's a nice, non eventful phone.

If you like experimenting, tinkering, tweaking and changing....android has it all over the iP

That is exactly how I feel.
If the stupid Ipad's were not so expensive, I would almost always rather have an IPAD2 and an Android... For now, I will make do with an HP Touchpad, an Asus EEPAD Transformer, and an EPIC 4g...

(sigh)...I do not want to buy another Iphone after all of this suing fiasco with Apple...I'll never buy another one of their products for a long, long time...

I have this feeling that the Iphone 5 screen will not have such pretty colors/contrast as a super AMOLED plus display...

I agree with all of you that the Iphone feels very restricted....one thing that also always bothered me was the fact that Apple doesn't want you to watch porn on your Iphone, so they disabled flash!!!

BTW...Do you all know when Apple will release it's new specs for the Iphone 5????

Rumors say Apple will hold its next event on September 7th, and will most surely detail their plans there. But like you said, I'm ready to salivate on some S AMOLED+ hotness.
