I really love the GS2 and I've been waiting for it for months.
I was very disappointed when Verizon decided to pass on it.

Here is my thing: I'm worried about Sprint's network.
Is it reliable? How is the 3g and 4g?

Depends where you are at for any network. Best thing you can do is ask people in your area that have Sprint. I am making the switch from Verizon to Sprint for this phone myself and everyone I talked to is very happy with their service in my area of Cincinnati.

Your best answer will be your own.
Do a sprint 30 day test drive leaving your Verizon account in tact.
If Sprint works out for ya port # dump Verzion

I didn't know you can do that.
I thought when you switch carriers the later is automatically cancelled.
So can I ask Sprint not to cancel my Verizon account when signing up?

just dont port your number, you can port anytime down the road if you keep it. so keep your vzw phone and start new service with sprint and get a new number. decide you want to keep it then port your vzw over and your sprint number is gone

Does anyone know if you still qualify for the port in credit if you don't port the number right as you activate new service? I'm also considering a switch from Verizon but want to testdrive things first.. will I still qualify if I port in a week or two after initiating service?

You can also go to sprint website and check out their coverage area map. Type in your address. Zip code. There 4g is not as strong as big red. I am not bashing sprint. I worked a multi carrier prior. Sprint Verizon TMobile. Then just Verizon. Customer care isn't as good though
