Hey y'all,

I already have Sprint but have been holding off on this till i can see & touch ATT's version. Sprints coverage is so poor in my area, yet Coverage Map says its good. I've read all over the Internet how poor Sprints 3G signal is nationwide (i'm not in a Wimax area and my boondocks town prolly won't ever see 4G) I had the Vibrant for a year, it was a great phone, but it was on T-Mo and i never had data issues, but i'm not feelin' the shape of the Hercules.

1 1/2 to 2 Mbs is perfectly acceptable, but i can't pull more than 1/4 of a Mbs on my EVO... So, are y'all having decent speeds (those of u NOT in Wimax area : ).

Thanx,

BTC

P.S. I'm not due for an upgrade so i'll be paying full price (or close to it once i trade in Lil Evo for $80 bucks) So tell me, are y'all keeping it or going with another carrier?

check the att coverage in ure area.... i had similar issues with my nexus s4g, finally gave up on sprint and jumped to att.... their network is not LTE but with their hspa+ i have been getting 2-3 megs indoors and almost 9 outside~!

def worth to jump ship to att if sprint is lacking 4g for u....

I just bought a new 4G Touch to consider moving from ATT to Sprint. After many many many speed tests its clear in Atlanta, GA Sprints 4G is consistently 50% slower than ATT HSPA+.

I really want the 4.5 screen with an LED unfortunately I will trade in my Motorola Atrix for the 4.3 Samsung GII. Sprints data speed is too slow 3G and 4G averaging 1.5 down 800 up yet ATT is 2.2 down and 1.5 up. I will miss this device....

The true answer is YMMV. Where I live my 3G speeds are lucky to hit 200 Kb/s. 4G typically gets me 2.5 Mb/s, which isn't bad but isn't even up to AT&T's 3G speeds.

As far as the phones goes... I absolutely love it! It's fast and smooth. Every app I've tried runs great. I haven't taken a charging cable with me once. The lowest my battery has been when I got home was 27% and that was a very long day with about 2 hours of gaming, maybe an hour of 4G (throughout the day), lots of email, etc.

So the real answer is if Sprint's network speeds are sufficient for you where you use it most, then I wholeheartedly recommend you go for this phone.

Here's how I've been thinking about it. Unless you're already on that carrier in a grandfathered unlimited data plan, what good are faster data speeds when you have to worry about hitting your data cap all the time? I'd rather have slower data now, with the hope (pray?) that it gets better, than have faster data while having to watch how much music I'm streaming. At least Sprint is still unlimited (for now ... eff you iPhone).

Hey guys you can put all your stuff in the cloud now so you can access it from anywhere! Oh but you can only download so much of it per month. *sigh*

ffs, can we please get a mod to move these annoying "does sprint suck or not?" threads to the Sprint section. I come here to figure out how to mess with my phone, not read about someone b*tching that AT&T is better in their area. It got really old after the first 20 page thread. We don't need any more here.

As for the OP's simple question that's been asked before, it's obvious that you know that Sprint sucks in your area. Go elsewhere. Why ask how good OUR signal is if it won't change anything for YOU. Pick coverage first, then get the best phone they have.

Also, the online coverage maps aren't going to be perfect. Who are you going to trust more?: someone that used Photoshop to color in a bunch of blocks or your phone telling you that you have a crappy signal?

/rant and panties in a bunch

get over it man. Sprint board isn't exactly active and it makes no sense getting a phone if the coverage sucks or the data speeds are poor.

Hi Tron! (aka Grumpy : )

I promise i DID search, i didn't see those particular threads, MOSTLY what i was seeking was "if ppl were KEEPING or RETURNING" ET due to that....

Secondly, as for threads "whining about data coverage" that DON'T include info on "how to mess with your phone", usually are spottable by their title, so u could've just "passed it by" and saved urself getting aggravated : )

Anyhoo, to all who did reply, ty... I know poor coverage is sometimes automatically reason to give up the phone, but, the call quality is GREAT on Sprint, unlimited EVERYTHING is great, good cust service, the bigger screen (Lcd density ap [when rooted] will fix everything being so HUGE,and Sprint ID is a great feature too)

While i also experienced double to triple the data speed for the week i had the Infuse, i WAS constantly worried about the data i was downloading, i actually found myself seeing how much an app was in megabytes from the market before i d'l'ed it, or i would wait till i got home to do it on wi-fi.. Never having to do that before with T-Mobile or Sprint, i just felt "enslaved"....Even tho i made up my mind i wouldn't worry about it and just pay the 10 bucks per GB overage fees, i STILL found myself obsessing over it and constantly checking my data usage on AT&T's site and also downloaded a "data usage meter" from market. (when i got home of course, that app was a whopping 5.2 "precious" megabytes"...lol...

Plus, while data speeds were very good on AT&T, of the 100 calls or so i made that week, (from my house) at least 75% were like, "you're breaking up"...hmmmmm... dint expect THAT....

So despite Tron saying this thread and its replies were a waste of time, it wasn't, y'all have helped me decide to stay with Sprint and get the ET and at the least enjoy its features and use mostly on wi-fi, and at best maybe their network will improve and then i'll have the best of both worlds!

I appreciate it, i've been agonizing over which one to get for weeks, and more than me, i am SURE my husband is grateful to y'all so i can get the phone and shutthehe!!upaboutwhichonetoget already! lol

So NOW that i've made my decision, hopefully they will have it in stock and i won't have to suffer anymore due to all my lollygagging back & forth...lol

thanx again y'all!
