I'm losing 1% every 2 minutes when I'm browsing on 3G. Is this normal? All other radios and apps off. Other than that this phone battery is fine. I've reformatted my internal memory and SD card. Didn't help. I'm on the stock kernal.

Glad you came and told the truth..thisbshould not be normal and I say it's a result if a cheap battery as i am typing this message I just lost 2%

I say depending on your use and other factors it is totally possible. If you look at my XDA thread, my first post shows 4.5 hours of on screen time after almost 13 hours and still have 26% battery left.

So what is your point? If you want to have a educational discussion with me and not act like a whiny little child, we can have one but you will need to bring some proof of something. Otherwise just saying dumb things with nothing to back it up is just trolling....

It is totally possible. I live in nyc where its not a fringe area, his brightness is set at 75%, He always gets a strong signal, and whether that makes a difference or not, he not using the screen non stop. He will use it for brief spurts ( 15 minutes here, 20 minutes there, 5 minutes here ). It adds up to over 4 hours. I will admit that I did rounded it off closer to 5 hours, but even with 4 + hours of on screen time and lasting him the entire day is better than any phone with a stock battery that he had ever had. Everytime I see him and check out his phone, I look at his battery usage, he typical graph is 1 + day with 1.5 hours of on screen time.

He has had this phone since launch, and runs the same. In fact his battery got even better after the first few days. The phone does not slow down or hiccup or gets horrible battery life like all the symptoms that you claim. For every bad claim that you make, there are at least 15 others that claim otherwise.

Bla bla bla stop trying to censor free speech ..I have provided proof that this phone is crap and I will continue to do so until the people are aware..how about going to the sprint forum and you will see that this is anothercrap sammy product

I think you have provided enough proof and you have provided your opinion of this phone so lets not beat a dead horse here. If your having battery issues try looking for tips to help versus just bashing a phone. You have every right to not like or even hate your phone and that is fine but let the others in this forum enjoy their phones.

Any more off topic arguing will result in this thread being closed.

Dguidry, I'd like to know why you didn't comment on my post in regards to your OP. I thought it was pretty well thought out and I tried to understand the issues you were having.

Because DG never replies to posts that logically refute his position that all these phones are junk. He throws out some pseudo-evidence, then tries to ignore everyone refuting it (or trying to help) for as long as he can, then finally disappears from the thread when his claim finally collapses under the weight of logic.

Who knows why... but you'd think he'd have learned by now that it just doesn't work... reason always wins!

One flaw that I know sucks the battery down is the ap widget. It is somehow tied to touch wiz. Unless you root it out, it will run in background(widget) even if you don't have it on touch wiz. Wierd problem. Uses a lot of data, and battery.
The only way to fix it right nowis to root it out of the os, or keep it active as a widget, but in the widget make the settings never refresh.
This has been posted quite a bit about touch wiz and the ap news app.

Thanks for that tidbit of info. I have been checking the forums for my Epic Touch since i got it a few weeks ago and this is the first mention i have seen of the AP widget causing issues.
I just added it to my crap page with Scroll set to None and auto update set to NONE.

thanks

I get pretty good battery life, especially after getting Juice Defender Ultimate.

Yesterday, I started a phone call that I thought was only going to last 45 minutes so I unplugged it. Battery was at about 92% at the time the call started. At 4 hours and 25 minutes of constant talk time and a fair amount of stuff going on in the background the phone died. I don't think I have ever had a 4.5 hour call on a cell before, but I was pretty impressed with the battery.

I have 2 spare batteries, like that better than extended due to the size of the extended. I can charge one battery while also charging the battery in the cell. Its Anker battery and charger, really great product. The batteries are full 1800 and I don't see much difference than the stock.

My vote is battery life on this phone is excellent.

I sprang for the full SystemPanel app which monitors app CPU usage as well. Anyone got advice on how to read the logs and deduce what's running amok, keeping things awake? Thanks.

Yeah, there was actually a thread dedicated to this issue......Once you have it setup the way you do you won't see any battery drain from it.

After being unplugged for 12 hours, MY phone is at 60%. As I've said before but you're too busy filling your diaper and being a shrieking ninny, while there may be a problem with YOUR phone, it's wrong for you to universally denounce the GS2 as defective. People might be more interested in helping you troubleshoot if you weren't such an obnoxious troll and emo crybaby. I'm pretty sure most forum members here would rather you go get an iPhone and depart these precincts.

Also, your "proof" shows that Facebook is a leading power hog and that you're battery is warm and your phone has been awake and on. That means you're clearly using it, but we can't tell what your brightness is set at and if you're using a demanding app, like a game, though it doesn't appear you are. Your telephone signal is weak as shown by the washed out yellow, so apps could be polling in vain. That's what I've seen before.

Either switch to decaf and get over yourself or get lost. I had a problem with my EVO having lack of memory space after GB and ran a thread collaborating with others for four months before giving up. Some people were reporting no problems whatsoever and others were in the same boat. By not going on a jihad attacking everyone who refused to chirp along with your pitiful bleats slamming the phone in toto, I was able to get advice and provide feedback in hopes of both solving my problem AND helping others with similar issues. It drives me nuts Googling for a tech problem fix to see others with the exact same problem, but never getting an answer or, even worse, posting, "I fixed it," without explaining what they did. What are you hoping to accomplish here other than being a big baby? You don't appear to be seeking help but are seeking others to agree with your specious point.

Quite frankly, I am not impressed with the battery life, not for a battery this large. It is certainly worse than my EVO3D which was excellent - but then again some people said it was bad. Is it twice as long as the original EVO4g?, by all means - that battery was horrid. That being said, this battery might is not as bad as the worse critics suggest and no where as good as the most ardent proponents would have you believe. Those who claim stellar battery life is probably not using their phone for anything other the telling the time. I don't know why someone has to be stirring up trouble or lying when they have an experience contrary to others. I can identify with the OP s my battery could go from 99% to 90% in less than 30 minutes of USE.

So basically you would get 5 hours of solid use at 10% decline per 30 min which sounds about right.

Ive watched 2 full length movies with HBO-GO leaving battery at 35% not bad huh?
Do that with 3D please report your findings :)
Also 3D in sleep eats battery , with mine I would loose roughly 11 -14% in 8hr sleep span.
With ET4G I'm losing 4 - 7% in that time frame.

ADDING:
EVO 4G was excellent device one of my favs but out of the box stock 1 movie view battery was used up.
Thank goodness for root.

Do you see the temp rising as the power drops? That is clearly some app draining your battery. I had battery spy and it generally would drain at 10% of peak with normal usage. Draining at 50% means something is wrong. Given that the display is eating so much in the other image, I'd say that it looks like you get out of bed a little after 6 and start actively using something display and processor intensive like surfing porn or something. The temp rising like that looks like when you charge and use at the same time.

I don't know how you use your phone, but you do apparently use it pretty actively. How was the porn performance on the other phones? Maybe it's because the epic s2 has a bigger, brighter screen that it uses more juice than your other phones. I think you can rest assured that when other people claim that they don't have battery issues, it's because their usage patterns are different than yours. Your experience is atypical because your usage pattern is atypical.

So, the take away is, it's not the phone. It's you.

Is it safe to assume that the AP widget doesn't kill battery if you don't have it on your homescreens at all? Or it is better to have it there and set it to not autoupdate?

I don't have the AP widget on a homescreen (ditched it first thing out of the box) and it's set to never update.

According to SystemPanel, it appears my problem is the everloving Android OS bug as System Processes "suspend" and "events/o" are tag-teaming to eat 10-15% of the CPU time. In addition to the GS2, apparently hacked Nook Colors have it from what I'm seeing at xda. Suckage.
