I am in Orlando Florida and have been experiencing SUPER SLOW 3G and 4G data speeds since October 2011.

I have a call into Sprint regarding this problem, and have spoke several times over the past 2 weeks to Corporate Tech Support.

They sent me a new phone, thinking it was a device issue, but I am having the same issue with the new one.

Feel free to Rant about sprints slow data speeds in this thread, but please let me know what your Ping, Download speed, Upload speed and city and state so we can get a good reference.

here are mine:
3G :(
ping: 145ms
down: .30mbps
up: .03mbps

4G :'(
ping: 371ms
down: .42mbps
up: .16mbps

Im in Raleigh, NC and Sprint has been terrible. For the past year 3G speeds are generally between 0.1-0.3 Mbps. 4G varies between about 0.5-2.0 Mbps, but of course has poor coverage and useless inside a tent or anything resembling a building.

I have had my phone locked on roaming for the past 2 months. 3G averages about 0.6-0.8 Mbps (not great but night and day compared to Sprint). 4G is no different since its not roaming. Amazing how many less dropped calls I have on my end as well (close to none).

Ever since around this time last year Sprint has gone way downhill. I figure I will keep them until they cancel my line for 100% roaming.

My typical 3G speed download is about 400k. It is very rare to get it over 1Mbps. I live in Huntsville, AL.. There is no 4G in my area. It is unbelievable how much 4G is advertised, but how little it is available.

When I am in California, my 4G speed, when available, is 5 - 10 Mbps. That is in my hotel in Rosemead. Much faster than the WiFi at the hotel.

Mine varies greatly too. From my house I can have rediculously high ping numbers combined with speeds that make a dial up modem look like a speed demon. I just ran a test on the Speedtest.net app and got a ping of around 150ms and 0.4 mbps down, and about 02 up. On other occasions, from my house as well, I got as high as 1.5 mbps and about 0.4 up. I am guessing it's all part of their ongoing upgrade to their new network. No 4G in my immediate area.

4G- hardly reliable, stronger when I get closer to downtown Chicago

Get almost no data connection inside any building, have to rely on WiFi :-\

For a thread on XDA, I ran Speed Test gave me these results in Allen Park, MI:

Test #1: 0.08 Mbps D, 0.10 Mbps U, 165 ms ping
Test #2: 0.04 Mbps D, 0.12 Mbps U, 123 ms ping
Test #3: 0.10 Mbps D, 0.25 Mbps U, 118 ms ping

Granted, this is the worst I see, but since I'm here 9-10 hours a day, it matters and this is outdoors; indoors there is almost no signal for voice and less for data.

The Internet is functionally off-limits to dial-up users and I'm pretty much getting dial-up speeds on my shiny, beautiful, fast E4GT. With work discounts and insurance, I'm paying under ~$78/mo. for Everything 450, but when everything doesn't include usable data speeds, where's the bargain? Unlimited slowness and vague promises that by the end of NEXT YEAR things will be awesome - a promise they seem to have been making since I came to Sprint in June 2010 with the Palm Pre.

I just priced similar service from Verizon and it would be $15-$20/mo. more than I'm currently paying. Ugh. They suck so hard with their a la carte nickle and diming.

Only spot on my desk I get any semblance of signal:

Sumner WA
Ping 92
Down 1.47
Up 0.24
No 4G

I also have been getting about a 75% fail on text messages here. Sometimes they do go through even though it says fail. I've even had them go 3 times when they've "failed" (and before I resent them).

well, i just wanted to thank everyone who took the time to post thier speed results.

I spoke with sprint yesterday, and they have determined that the issue is "Network Capacity" and until the network is upgraded, they network quality will vary.

To me, thats like selling tickets to a sold out concert. If your at capacity, why keep adding customers.......:-$.......its all about the money.

Needless to say, they said that network would improve after tower upgrades. i wont hold my breath:confused:

Well, that makes sense. I have been testing everywhere I go in Southwest Michigan. Sprint speeds have been consistently awful since December 2011. I am talking St. Joseph, Berrien Springs, Grand Rapids, Kalamazoo. What good is a great phone and unlimited data with poor service. I was able to test AT+T "SIDE-BY--SIDE" and it consistently blew Sprint away! Very disappointing.

This is right in the middle of fort Collins, CO. At my house the speeds would be half that. It seems to help a bit when I do regular profile updates.

I live in central Florida as well OP. Well Lake county to be exact. I also have gotten good 3G speeds in the past but lately it has sucked eggs and actually tired of it.

I called Sprint and reset phone, PRL and profile update, but was treated like I was idiot because they said..."why don't you use your 4G capability?!?" I laughed at him and hung up. There's no 4G in this area whatsoever.

I'm just going to stick it out for a while and see what happens but I really think this IS how it's going to be.
