I'm a newb at rooting, so please bare with me. I currently have the Sprint Epic Touch 4G with firmware 4.0.4 and build FL24. Last night I tried to root my phone with the ODIN 1-Click method. Being the newb that I am, I didn't realize that I downloaded the FI27 Kernel from here:

    http://www.rwilco12.com/Files/Device...I27_KERNEL.exe

So booted my phone into Download/Odin Mode. Started the 1-Click ODIN kernel and plug my phone in. The root process started but failed after a few minutes. Now, everytime I boot my phone up, I get an error message "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue..."

I'm at a loss at what I should do. Thanks in advance for any help!

You should be able to just download the FL24 kernel (or any kernel you need) and flash that via ODIN.

I already tried that and the process still failed.

Go back to the same site and download the GB 27 file from stock ROMs. That will bring your device up to date. Next, you can look for QBKing77 on YouTube, and search for how to root Epic 4G Touch.

I'm just trying to understand all of this, but why am I not able to flash the current FL24 back onto the phone? When you say "GB27", I'm assuming you're referring to these Jelly Bean files, right?

I just want to make sure I do it right. I'll give that a shot in a little bit. Thanks for the suggestion.

Yes, that is the file I had in mind.
The root file being a kernel may have messed things up a little. I suggested the jelly bean file to help straighten things out.

So the problem turned out to be the One-Click file. I downloaded ODIN and the .tar file and flashed my phone with that method, which worked great. Thanks for everyones help!
