AndroidSPIN AS Exlusive: Sprint Source Confirms Late July Release for the Samsung Within (Galaxy S 2)

    WOOOHOOO!!!!!!!!

I dont have Sprint, or plan on getting it. But I am guessing that Verizon will follow shortly afterwards. I can't upgrade til August anyways, so I can be patient.

I hope so. This phone is now my top choice over the bionic. Webtop killed most of my desire for that phone.

If it falls shortly thereafter on Verizon, I could live with that. But, the sooner the better. I wonder though with the release of the Bionic coming mid-August if they would try and get the GSII in beforehand, hopefully late-July at the latest.

Hopefully it isn't the Tegra 2 version. I want the Exynos battery life.

I hate to sounds like a negative nancy but I will believe it when I see it. Samsung USA has really missed the mark with pushing for a US release date. I understand a lot is driven by providers but the longer they hold out the more sales they're missing out on. It's truly an amazing device.

I believe the South Korean, European and North American units will definitely use Exynos and units in countries like Russia, China, India, etc. will use Tegra 2.

Because the countries that seem to be 'top of the line' technology wise should have the best hardware??? I think. Either that, or just that a lot of their marketshare are in those markets

I agree with someone who said earlier that they will believe it when they see it. The thing that makes me not believe this "source" as much is the $350 price tag. That would be the most expensive 16gb phone on the market for the big 4 carriers by $100. Realistically, I think the phone will go subsidized for $200. At $350, this phone will not be the iphone killer that it should be. Maybe I'm wrong but thats my thought on it.

Was on Verizon, tried Sprint, went back to Verizon because the signal is everywhere. Guess I will wait until Verizon makes an announcement.

I would be thrilled if $350 was the retail price. I'd definitely buy it and save my upgrade for later, say when the LTE version comes out.

Have read some positive things about the Samsung GS2. I have the Evo now and have no plans to give it up unless the SGS2 comes to Sprint.

guys, how is this phone compared to 3d? I am coming from blackberry so I have no clue about the UI's...I will have to choose between GS II or 3d. I prefer the better screen on samsung over the 3d views of evo.

Anyone see word on whether the Within will get WiMax juice?

I would be surprised if it didn't come WiMaxed. It would be a DOA phone if it didn't for me. The most important thing so far for me is the modem. I read how EVO's get around 8 to 10mbps on 4G . I have never seen anything pasted 6mbps on my Epic and now I'm lucky to see 4mbps. Its not bad for me since I don't Tether but we should all average the same speeds more or less.
$350 will be alot. I ponied up for the Epic last year. I don't know if i can do it this time around. Wify is up for an upgrade this time around also. She wants a keyboard phone so if this 1 has 1 then i would need 2 of them lol $700 is to much.
