Hypothetically... If I canceled my contract

Would I be able to keep the phone? Say I was 4 months into my contract and decided to terminate the contract. Would I just pay the $350 fee and that's it?

Yes. You own the phone, not rent it.

The device wouldn't do you much good without Sprint connectivity. But you could sell it used on eBay, Craigslist, etc.

That's the main rationale for the early termination fee. It compensates the carrier for the subsidy.

Yep as they said phone is yours.. Now if you don't pay the bill or ETF then they can turn around and mark it as a bad ESN which it can't be activated on Sprint's network by you or anyone else until the bill is paid and clear.
