from *.* to .zip or .tar?

so, i used ADB to create a backup of my phone before taking it in to get a new one, because my three year old broke the screen pretty bad. i forgot to add a file extension to the end, so it saved as a "file" file. is there a way to convert the "file" file to a .zip or other open-able archive?

Just rename it with the extension you want. Depending on what adb does you may or may not be able to open/view it.

tried that, didn't work. i tried .tar, .zip, .rar, and .tar.md5 and nothing worked.

Then adb did not create it as one of those file types. Maybe there is something I adb to extract what it created
