Since you said you had an app which prevented syncing, check the following:
Go to Settings / Accounts, and tap on Google and Samsung accounts and make sure Sync is turned on. If that's not the problem, try to answer the following questions:
Are you using the standard Samsung (Green icon) calendar app? Do you know if you calendar was syncing with Google, or Samsung, or if your events were stored only on the phone? If they were syncing with Google, can you see them online when logged into Google through a web browser?
