Performance while plugged into USB.

I have a stock Marquee. I have ran both Neocore and Quadrant while my phone is unplugged, plugged into the travel charger and into any computer USB port using only the cable LG provided. In the travel charger or unplugged Quadrant sits at 1205 max and Neocore at 23.x fps. When plugged into any computer's USB port Quadrant maxes at 1531 and Neocore is a solid 49.x fps!!!

This is unbelievable a difference but any one of u Marquee owners should be able to reproduce what I just have. I have used OS Monitor to check the CPU governer in all three different charging states and it never leaves on demand. I would love to know how to make this phone perform like it should. In a computer's USB port this phone becomes an ultra smooth machine that out performs all the old school Snapdragons and even hangs with the newer phones with a single core. WHAT IS WRONG HERE?

Ok, confirmed that neocore jumps from ~24fps to ~45fps when plugged in. Quadrant scores seemed to be the same for me.

Unplugged, ran neocore again. Still at 45fps. But I recall running it in the past and getting half of that. Browser also seems smoother than it was this morning.

::scratching head::

Yeah my Neocore is a solid 45.x FPS plugged into USB. I mistyped. I have no clue as to what's causing this. Suppose a logcat might reveal something. Not a l33t hacker so someone with more technical expertise might need to pick this one up. I simply wish there was a way to get the phone to behave like this without being plugged into a USB port. As soon as my phone is unplugged the CPU steroids of unknown type disappears. BTW I am not rooted. I do not wish to root unless someone can fix this and either remove CIQ or come up with a CIQ free ROM.

PS Dishe, didn't u root and remove the lib file for software based opengl from the system folder? I ask as u implied ur phone keeps pumping out higher FPS in Neocore once it's unplugged. Can u do more testing or elaborate upon the way ur phone is behaving?

Yes, I thought about that as well, and wondered what kind of an impact that may be having. Interestingly enough, removing the library file originally caused some of the openGL tests to perform better in Quadrant (the moons one), but I noticed it went back to the old 8-9 fps when testing just now. Whether it is plugged in or not.
Meanwhile, I remember running neocore after removing the library to see what happens, and it was still the same old 24.x fps. It wasn't until I plugged it in and ran it again after reading this that I saw the 45.x fps, and it is still doing it after being unplugged.

Curioser and curioser. I don't have time tonight to do any more testing, as I'm on a deadline project and working from home tonight. But there is definitely something interesting going on.

I get the same increase in Neocare FPS when I have it plugged into my PC. I was able to capture the kernel log (via dmesg) before plugging in the USB cable to the PC and after plugging it in; here are the kernel log actions as a result of plugging the USB cable into my PC (charge only). If anyone can figure out what this is doing, we may figure a way to unlock this performance boost. Seems like the TWL USB power controller is doing a lot of stuff when the USB is plugged into the PC. I'll upload a similar log when it's just plug into the wall charger.

Any progress made here? Does anyone know if this behavior is isolated to the Sprint Marquee or if all the variants suffer a performance loss when disconnected from USB?
