I am about to return my phone to best buy because of the ghost back button press issue that is crippling my phone. Since they said that was somewhat related to 3G data being on, I wonder if this update fixes that. I have tried turning off 3G and it still had the glitch..so guess I'll try for handset number two today.
Is possible this may get fixed... it was discussed extensively on the Google Mobile Help Forum, it affects the Nexus S/S 4G equally and seems related to the 3G radio driver. Google employee said at one point that a fix was going to be pushed later but did not specified when... I guess this is later

This morning I just forced my phone to check in three times. Then about 10 mins ago I went in settings - system updates just for ****s and giggles and it was downloading the update by itself. I'm now rebooting with the little android robot and a box.

Everytime I do this my phone only says checking successful; did you get any other response?

If you get the update and want to share, do not install it...download it but do not install it. Once it's installed you will lose the opportunity to share it with others.

Someone smarter than me can help you get it off your phone, but don't install it.

Sorry I already installed it. I didn't know I should have waited. Sorry guys.
When I did the force check my said the same thing. I think it just puts your phone on the list. check your system updates to see if anything is there to download or if its already downloading the update. I had no notification it was downloading.

The other logical option is that you were high up on the list to get the download, which is more likely. I could be wrong, but that seems like a good guess to me. I have been checking in all day and I'm still SOL.

If you call *#*#2432546#*#* it will force your phone to 'checkin' and check for any updates or patches that are advailable.
I've done this several times today. No luck.

I'm pretty sure that updates go by serial # or IMEI #. I'd imagine that if they went by regional then it could cause problems for the towers in that area. But I'm no network engineer so I could be wrong.

There is a guy over at the XDA forums that got the update but didn't apply it yet and is pulling it off his phone right now.

Maybe he added something. Hmm. I'm waiting. For the ota this time. I use to go crazy over the epic updates. Then I'd get it and they would pull it. Lol.

This is weird because I downloaded the update from his link....and the zip file was 22.00mb exactly as well.

For those of you that can't wait.

Taken from XDA (thanks and full credit to xyzulu and coolfrooddude for links and instructions)

Download file directly from Google (for the paranoid, like me)
    http://android.clients.google.com/pa...2.39fe4c59.zip

Install instructions (use the file you downloaded above, not the one in the instructions)
    http://www.androidcentral.com/how-ma...-s-android-233

    At your own risk.
