Nexus s 4g video camera dark

Why is it that when I start the video camera on my phone the picture looks perfect but when I hit record the picture and recorded image looks like it isbeing shot through sunglasses? My phone is not rooted just stock 2.3.4.

yeah...it bugs me too and mine is rooted.

This is the compression of which is done after the recording. So the compression software is to blame here.
